???
Hi,
I'm new on this forum
been lurking for a while already since I got an MPC 500 2 weeks ago
admittedly, know nothing about this thing, and since I'm totally new to sampling, haven't been doing much with it yet

One of the first things I did was upgrade the OS, it was 1.11 when I got it, now it's running under 1.31

Next thing I wanted to do is to install 128 RAM
I odered one of these EXM-128

can't get it to work
I get a SODIMM Memomry Check Pass 1 screen which runs to about 87%
and then I get a message Memory problem Check the Memory
I'm guessing it is a defective part and I've sent it back and will be getting a replacement free of charge

anyhow, while putting in the card and pulling it back out again a couple of times, I broke of both little plastic thingies that click the RAM card into place and hold it down ...

hmmm, I tried superglue and fitted the card back to no avail, the plastic thingies broke off again

so, I was wondering, you guiys have any tips or tricks that I could try to fix that problem
can I simply put some hotmelt on the card, and glue it onto the circuitboard ?

cheers

Shiiiit, bad times for you.

First off, I wouldn't go putting anything hot on the RAM! Send it back, get more. Second, for the broken tabs, I'm sure you can buy replacement housing for it from MPC Spares and fit it yourself (with a bit of dismantling). However, as you only got it two weeks ago, you could always take it back to the store and claim it on warranty.

Just a thought...

PCB, Compact Flash Assy - MPC500 does not look the same in my MPC
mine doesn't have that metal cover

or is it this part
Memory Slot Holddown
that looks just like it, but it's supposedly only for the MPC1000 and 2500

and where can I get replacement parts in Europe ? Belgium to be more specific ?

can't I just use some duct tape to keep the RAM in place ?
Any cheapskate solution ? I'm skint
