Do You Think It Will Ever Be Possible On a 500?

I was wondering if it would ever be possible to change the sample rates on the 500, I had a crazy idea of wanting that 12 bit magic sound come from the 500, and also be able to switch to higher qualities whenever I wanted to.

Just an idea but how many others have thought about this?

Nope, if you want 12 bit dump into a daw and change rates.

Might be possible if there's ever a third party firmware.

There's a trick I've read about but never tested myself: sample at a very low volume, so only the least significant bits are used, and then normalize the sample to bring the volume up. Voila! Instant low-resolution. Of course, you will also bring up the noise floor when normalizing, but the crunch should be there.

If you want to be more "precise", just keep in mind that each bit gives you 6 db of headroom, so the peaks should be at around -24 db during sampling to approximate 12-bit quality.

Speed up the tt as fast as possible, sample it and slow it down inside the mpc.

That's how u had to do that with a 'real' sampler like the s950 to save ram.

Yea please explain what a "real" sampler is? Im pissed now that Ive been making fake beats all these years

with the word real i didn't mean like fake or real in that way.

I posted somewhere that mpc's aren't 'real' samplers.

By that I meant that the mpc's don't have the same functions just like keymapping, like the rack samplers they used for multisampling. The same samplers they used to slice beats with before akai made the chopshop and other slice tools.
The samplers that were built in times no one designed it to make beats, but to sample sounds to make multisample programs.

Not in a way that the mpc is fake. And only the rack samplers are real samplers.

I don't care either what kind of sampler I work with. I would be one of the last one's who would say something like:Oh, that sh!t is made on a computer, he is not real.
