trimming issuse

i got a 8 second sample loaded into my mpc 500 and i want to chop it up in a few pads, maybe 8. now i hit mode then trim. now, where is the slice button so i can slice it ? how can i put this 8 second sample and put it across some pads? i been reading the manual and i can't locate the solution, any help would be great

begin with setting the start point in the trim mode
after that extract or copy(also in trim mode) the sample to a new sample
the endpoint value of the first part can be set to the start point value of the 2nd sample

for example lets say you have a 2bar loop of a hihat sample.

begin by setting the start value and the end value so the first hihat hit is isolated from the rest of the sample.

then copy the sound and set the end value from the 1st end point and make those numbers be the 2nd value of the 2nd hihat start point after that...

kind of difficult to explain but thats how i do it..
