Yo.

Couldn't find the info I was looking for so here is my question.

I always save entire projects. I had heard sometimes during saving something becomes corrupt and you can not access the file at all.

I was wondering if y'all save your projects in to the same file (if your saving the same song repeatedly for example), or create a new file each time you save. I have a pretty sick track I'm working on, the first I've made I feel worthy of posting here, and I don't really want to risk losing it (which may enable me to toss my 5-hunny out the window).

any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

No, man. Don't toss it yet - the Empee's don't bounce. I had this problem - more than once. Scroll through your samples, listen to All of them. It's quicker if you can just load them all up on your computer, Media Player is fast enough. If you hear that one of them has a hiss, or a long tone (basically, anything that is not what the sample is supposed to be), it's probably corrupt. Delete it. If it was that good, you can sample it again. Also, make sure the sample .WAVs are in the same format. Right-click, properties - they should be "PCM Format" only. That's all that the 500 will read. Trust me, I hate when I thought it saved and then I go back later and I see error messages.

I don't know about saving the same Project file to a different name all the time. I was so pissed off when I kept saving Programs and Sequences and Projects, it was like I never used a computer before. Mad people were like "Read the Ufkin Manual, Dude!" It looks weird when you do it, but just make sure that when you save the Project, the next screen lets you to rename it. Like, if you had "Beat One" and try to resave it another time, it will say "Project01" or something like that. You have to scroll and rename it exactly as "Beat One" not "Beat_One", or you will want to take that 500 and chuck it out the window.

Go check it out and see what you can find. Hope it works out.

Piece.

Thank's yo. Just wanting to cut off any possible avenues of disapointment before they happen. I rip all my samples off vinyl using the mpc, so I'm thinking there shouldn't be any corrupt files ie: from different sampled sources/equipment.

I'm gonna try out what you suggested just to make sure though, then dump any unwanted or unused samples just in case. Thanks for the reply

I got my 500 about a month ag and experienced a little corruption with saving a project file. The other day I loaded a project I created when I first got it - It loaded fine, but was missing two samples. The pads had the samples assigned to them, but they had a ? mark at the end and nothing would play from those two pads. Luckily, the two samples in question were orignally saved into a another folder when I began, so I had go grab them again and incoporate back into the project. What sucked about doing that is that the samples weren't trimmed the way they were in the original project. Resaved/overwrote the project and its fine now, (until it gets corrupted again I suppose).

I'm not sure if this is the issue going forward, but I had this problem right around the time the batteries starting getting low.
