Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

First off only 4 of the pads respond. I've ajusted sesitivity and done a factory reset. That didn't help. I can't even get into modes on the faulty pads. Also, how do i access the flash card via my computer? I've hooked it up and the device manager sees the mpc but does not show as a drive in the my computer folder. Any advice? THANKS

yea if that 500 has faulty pads you best send that back... unless you don't have a problem with payin to fix 'em yourself...

Anyways, to transfer things to/from the MPC using the flash card you have to press 'Mode' -> [Pad 2] Load -> and scroll to the end using the data wheel. You'll see 'USB Mode' or something along those lines. The MPC must be connected to the computer, of course. And on my MacBook it always take a a little while to connect (after I scroll to USB mode) Damn near a minute sometimes

Since you bought it off ebay, get an estimate for repairs and make a claim. Get your money back and spend whatever money you were about to waste on repairs and buy a brand new one.

MPC1000 recommended.

Unless, you knew beforehand that it was a lemon then you're stuck with it.

Yea, I want to stick with the mpc 500 because of it's portability. I already have my main workstation at home (yamaha xs6). I am going to try to get an estimate on repair and give that to the seller (they said it was in perfect working order and like new). It's odd, the thing looks like it's hardly been used.

Starting to think the card reader is defective as well. When you guys hook the mpc up to your computer, does it show up as a drive in the MY COMPUTER folder with all your hard drives? My device manager recognizes the MPC but i can't access the actual card.
Also, yea inflict3 we should discuss jamming sometime. My thing is more the drums so it would be cool to collaborate with a more advanced MPC guy.

I got my 1000 off of eBay recently and it's in perfect working order. Guess it depends on the seller.

The 500 I got off of ebay that was "like new" looks like it had an electrical fire... lol.

Anyway it plays fine and I did get a decent deal and it works fine despite the cosmetic issues. Better luck next time though right?
