Questions about transfers of files

Hi there, most of my sample collection is 24 bit so i have changed them to 16 bit and re copied them over and created a file within the flash card
it is usb'd up at the min so on my computer it goes mycomputer/mpc500/bass samples/sample 1 2 3 4 bla bla

I cant now see it when i go to load the folder up

am i doing it wrong? i have not really used usb mpc's before

The filenames might be too long. It's a limitation of the file system that the MPC uses. FAT16?

I just connected my spare MO Drive to my PC today and tried the transfer from PC to MPC.
I realized that the MPC can handle more Wave Formats than I thought (44kHz, 22kHz, 96kHz, 11kHz)
But I find that 8.3 names really annoying. I like to name samples in a way I can remember where its from and 8.3 letters are just not enough.
The FAT16 of the PC is 8.3
I tried to format in FAT32 on the PC but the MPC didn't recognize the disk.
I tried to format in the MPC. The PC recognized it but when I copied a sample with a long name on it, the mpc still dont get more than the 8.3 names

Now I wonder if there is a solution for this problem. There must be a way cause the MPC file system allow mor than 8.3 letters.

I'm interested in experiences of mac users.
I will do some tests with the knoppix system and hope that I find a way around this.

Just cant belive that noone skilled havn't try to fix this.

If any of you got some mor infos bout the MPC filesystem let me know please.
