Folder and sample name lenghts?

Hey all

How many characters long can a folder and sample name be?
Just trying to get some smaples organized before i get my 500.

For the 1k it was 16 characters. I am assuming the 500 would be the same

Thanks for the quick reply, but i dont think it is 16, the 500's screen is only 16 characters long, and on the left hand side it tells you weather it's a file (fil) or folder (fld)? then the name. I think it maby 10 but i am not sure?

I think Pound is right. MPC puts will put first and last characters divided by ..

However, you're smart to ask. I always keep my file names 8 characters or less. I've noticed problems when I get long names on either files or folders.

Same here. I keep it simple on the MPC. I have a book and a spreadsheet that I keep specific details in....like sample data, instruments etc

It can handle names up to 16 characters, but it can't display all of them.

NiceFatKickDrum will become NiceFat..um or something like that.
But keepin it short and simple would be the best solution to keep track of all ur stored data.
