Removing the slider - quick question

this is stupid but I don't want to do it the wrong way and wreck my 500!

i'm getting some of the coloured pads for my MPC and I've been following what people have already written here on the board about unscrewing the 6 screws and lifting the top off from either the left or right. I realise I need to take the grey top of the slider - how do I do it? Does it come off by pulling it toward me or does it slide off somehow? I've had a quick look tonight but I"m nervous about breaking it off!

If it's the same slider as the 1000 (and it looks like it is) then all you need to do is gently pull straight up on the grey plastic slider and it'll pop off. Just push it back on firmly to re-attach.
