Sampling into MPC500

Do you guys sample straight into the MPC500, and then chop it from there?

I am just getting my turntable and shit set up, and so far I've just been sampling digitally. I would just take a file and chop it up on audacity.

I'm wondering if you guys sample into the mpc500 and chop it on the mpc, or if you sample into the computer first, chop it, and then upload the pieces into the mpc? (ive seen that done)

because its kind of annoying chopping on the 500. and sampling straight into it might not make sense for me cause i use lots of effects in my music and the mpc doesn't really cover all of them.

how do you all do it?

I usually chop on my computer. But if i chop with the mpc i feel like i chop it in a more usable way. When chopped on the computer i cant make quick tweaks to how much of the sample plays. If it wasnt such a **** i would chop on the 500 more.... but it is . You can get a better groove if you chop it onto the pads, but its easier in audacity. I hope I'm being clear its kind of hard to put into words.

Right now I'm chopping on the computer using Slicex and then loading in to the MPC.

I don't have problems chopping up samples in the 500. If I want to work on a long sample on the road then I chop it up and make a program out of it on the 2500.

I sample straight off the 500 and chop on it.
I find it easy with the pad function (play loop,play to,play from)

I like to do final chops in the MPC.
I "prechop" break wavs on the PC down to the usable pieces as one song file. Kind of like a rough remix down to the parts I think I can use. Then I store those chopped songs in a breaks folder on my CF.
I like to do the final chops for loops and sounds as I'm working on a project on the MPC because I'm in a different musical mindset when I'm tapping on hardware then when I'm clicking on software.

I got an MPC so I could avoid clicking shiz.

Not chopping on the MPC would feel strange to me now lol

personally, i record straight into the 500 when looking for drums, snares, etc.

but talking samples, i have NEVER sampled into the 500. i record my turntable into sound forge, then copy/paste to my 500

i use a lot of fx as well, so i record samples into sound forge.
