What is wrong with the unit? Have you tried to reinstall the software. The ROM is hard soldered to the mainboard, you will bust the whole unit trying to get it out.

@eimer : hey mate other question:
The "übercool" bottom line ... where you from?
it's a german word ... and for sure "eimer" too ... when you can speak german , it would be surely comfortable we speak german...

(please write pm if it right- need any help i can get)

I'm a lil bit lazy to write the whole story down again ... for details ---> I'd describe my problem here:

viewtopic.php?f=26&t=122767

my mpc 500 is full of bugs since a week.
i put the expansion out & and did a lot of Os updates...
the mystic thing is that i can't do the "Initialize" step.
I press the erase button while the Mpc start up... but it doesn't react and load normally (load the factory samples without reinitialized the flash rom)...

I posted my problem in other forums too and i got the information thats surely the flash rom is damage... cause the perfomance looks like.

- can't initialize
- sequenzer datas are gone after the mpc crashed

and so on...

and two members (in two different forums) tellin me thats a big problem cause the flash rom must be changed with a new one .

I have now read it and am very worried for your unit. If it is the ROM you are f*cked! Then you need to get a ROM with the software written on it, else it won't work. New mainboard is then the only solution. You can also check the soldering on the ROM block legs to see if they need touchups if they are weak.

Try to write AKAI to see if they have a solution.

And sorry i am not German, but Danish. I understand german, but can't write it. So you can write to me in German if you want.
