Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hello there,
I just thought I'd post to tell everyone how I feel about my MPC.
When I got it I thought it was very hard to use/understand especially from a
sequencer aspect - I hated it.
Now I've bought a yamaha q70 (second hand) and I use that for sequencing -
it's far better for that task - and I use the MPC as a sampler.
I finally worked out how to build my own using BlueBox and now this thing
sounds amazing.
I've been building some from the Roland Orchestral library - especially of the
strings.
If anyone has any to swap drop me a line.

The only thing I really dont like about the mpc sequencer is the sequence editing functions.
Trying to extract the second half of a four bar loop, or combining sections from different loops is way to convoluted in the parameters menu. I decided that editing my loops in song mode as songs and then converting them back into a new sequences was the easiest way.
And step editing is a mess too.

But other than those two unfortunate designs, as far as just mashing out a loop it programs like a vintage drum machine for me which is all that I wanted.
I've never tried a yamaha.
