Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hello all. I'm a super rookie with my MPC 500, as I've only been working with it for a few days, so please bare with me. Here's my issue:

After creating a collection of sequences, I'm attempting to convert those into one long sequence in song mode, save that sample, and then transfer that beat to my computer. (After researching for a couple days, it seems that this is the way to get a beat on my computer. If I'm mistaken, please correct me). The only problem is that when I'm in song mode and go to convert it to a sequence, the warning "Files Not Found" flashes at me.

I'm sure there's something I need to do before entering song mode so that the MPC will recognize my files, but what is it? Any advice/ feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Did you change the name of something before you tried to convert song to seq?
Explain your whole process and maybe we can find the step that's wrong, we are not mind readers, lol.

You mean you're not going to do a Johnny Carson routine?

It's not your fault. This is normal with the 500 as the OS where never bugged out. This failure happens from time to time. It sucks :-( .

You can maybe record the outputs into some external gear?

yeah I went into song mode right after loading my sequences.

Nah I didn't change any names. Here's my process:

I made a set of sequences, saved them, went into song mode and assigned each sequence to a given step, and then went to convert that song into one long sequence.

Elmer mentions recording outputs into some external gear. What would this entail?

I'm grateful for any help. As I said, I'm new to this thang. I've been trying to follow along in the instruction manual, but keep running into snags. I just wanna makeome beats and listen to them on my computer! Thanks!..

Big thanks to everyone that tried to help me out. I ended up just formatting my CF card in hopes that resetting everything would fix my problem, and it did. Not sure what was going wrong before, but now all is good in Song Mode. Thanks again!
