gonna get an mpc500...maybe

so im thinkin about gettin an mpc 500...nice and compact and whatnot, but im also considering a 1000. id rather get the 500, but if the 1000 is alot better than i might go for that. see the thing i dont want to do is regret not getting the 1000 later on. i was told that jjos makes the 1000 into a 2500 more or less.
one question i have is is...does jjos make a big difference since you cant get it on the 500(i really dont even know what jjos does)
can you people help me decide what to buy...i trust you

JJOS is an alternative operating system. Read the JJOS topic and google the site, then u will understand.

The 500 is a bit of a toy.

Fine for rough demo stuff, but would be awkward if you ever wanted to create a professional quality project.

It could be done, just time consuming and awkward as you'd have to track all your sounds out one at a time to the board and then re sync them because of the single stereo output.

I'd recommend the 1000 unless portability is your main concern.

Yeah, the tracking out is the biggest problem i have with it. I hate trying to sinc up each different track. I have loads of songs that i havent tracked out for this reason. Go with the biggest number you can afford.

Having both... they are both good.

Basically though... get the 500 if you need a battery powered device. Get the 1000 if you want everything else since with JJOS it is an amazing system.

The 500 is great for making beats for on the move.

1000 is great for almost everything.

I'm sure its very nice whatever that is but I deleted flash from my computer this morning. Adobe is garbage and the 500 is still a toy.


BTW: I have checked your beats before, they're very good. But they dont sound like you did them on a 500 IMO. With all that keyboarding going on they sound more like you used a planet phat or some kind of rackmount or something.

the 500 is not a toy, that is your opinion, and a very wrong one at that.

Check my other beats, and the beats on my myspace. again i BEG to differ, and im willing to battle anyone using anyother mpc or any other piece of gear, i can hang with anyone without a question.



Whether my beats "sound" like there done on a 500 or not doesnt matter, because they are done on it.

Dude why you always calling out Fisher Price on the 500? I noticed that... I ain't hating, just wondering why you are?

I think if he's managed to fool you with what machine he's used..... nuff said on that front, and you kind of lost your argument there.

I think 500 does the same thing as the 1000 only difference is the size and some features like the tiny screen, 12 pads, and chopping samples by increments in numbers instead of being able to see the waveform on the 1000. Of course with the jj os, its way better to go with the 1000.It all depends on how you want to work.

to someone trying to make a decision between a 500 and 1000, i say get the 1000 NO QUESTION! but i still love the 500 and i will never sell it.


On craigslist you can find 1k's for less than the price of a new 500.


But the 500 is NOT a toy, if u wanna call the 500 a toy then all the mpc's and keyboards in the world are just toys. It may be a toy in your hands but its a magic wand in mine.
