Huge problem with assigning samples to pads

I searched and didn't find anything that was exactly like the problem I am having, I apologize if it's out there and I just didn't see it.

Basically everything was working fine, I hadn't done anything really besides a tutorial or two and mess with the default sounds. When I finally found out how to chop the samples I dove right in. I took my sample and chopped it up using WavePad ( idk if that's the best, but it's what the tutorial man used ), put it in my folder and organized it, and loaded the folder onto the MPC.

This is where the problems occurred.

I assigned all my samples to the pads I wanted them on, on all the banks and stuff. All of a sudden, half my pads don't work, at all, for anything. The samples assigned to that pad wont play and seem to double up on the pad next to it. I can hear the sample play, then end, and the other sample is still going over it. On top of that when I try to load something, I have to press Mode > Save and scroll left to Load. The pads just seem to decide to not work. It is happening with several of the pads.

The samples are all 16bit 44.1 so there shouldn't be a problem there.

I am new to this thing and I am sure that there is something I am not doing, but I have no idea what that is.

On the pads that don't work got to Program Mode, and see if the sample is still assigned to the pad. Check if the name of the sample (if there) has any problems with the text in the name ie: a ? mark before the name.

I had this problem once, and it turned out my chops were corrupted somehow. I still don't know why, but I rechopped them from the main sample and reset the pads and it worked. I had a ? before the title of the sample in program mode.

Try re-chopping the sample and see what happens. If you still have problems try getting a new wav editor, like Audacity (it's free and the one I'm using at the moment).

Haven't been able to get to it the last few days so I have yet to try anything with it.
I will also check the OS version.

Well, if the mode: load doesn't work maybe you have a problem with your pads...when a pad doesn't play, if you try another funcion, like TRIM, EFFECT...is it working?

It's *very* hard to provide any possible solution for you without you writing out exactly all the steps you are following. Something like

1) push mode button
2) push trim pad...

I know this is incredibly tedious, but there are so many places you may be doing things wrong between 30-40 button/pad/scroll wheel actions that it is impossible to say what it is you're doing wrong from a rather high level description of what you are doing.

I've been having the same problems. It's gotten so bad that I just "oldschool" it and play back my samples from itunes out of the audio interface straight into my MPC like if I was sampling vinyl. It happens alot when i convert files on itunes into waves. Theres always an issue like "END OF FILE" or ill hear a click but no sample. I dunno if its a 500 problem or just an MPC problem.

and the 3rd option.... a user problem.

it could be HOW your converting your samples or a myriad of other challenges. Like Neartao said, without a complete reproduction of what your doing it is hard to diagnose.

I'm not saying it's you, but don't be so quick to blame the 500.

user error most likely. If your chopping outside and dragging back you are probably importing the wrong file format.

This is the rundown- I take a sample I like and drop it into Logic. It might be vinyl, it might be an MP3. Whatever. I chop on logic. I bounce it as a WAV. I drag it onto the MPC. If this doesnt work ill convert it to mp3, and convert it back to WAV and then drop it into the MPC. THe problem has been so recurring that Im actually thinking of just getting a new flash card or re-thinking the way I edit.

^ you should be rethinking the way you edit because converting to MP3 is doing nothing but hurting the audio.

All DAWS have multiple output formats. Just select the correct one and you will not have any problems with compatibility in the MPC.

I know its WAV---------What kind of bitrate??/format
