Having different samples sent out of each output

I don't have my MPC500 yet, but I'm wondering if I can send half of samples out of one output and half out of the other (assuming all of my samples are mono) by panning a sample to the far right or the far left? I want to send some samples to an FX box and some clean into a mixer.

Is this possible?

The MPC 500 only has one set of "outs" as it were. The other is the headphone jack.

It is possible to do what you ask but not at the same time as you indicate. The way around this would be to re-sample your "fx'd" samples on to a different pad.

The other MPCs have more outs, but as I've never had one you'd have to ask a more experienced member to see if it could do what you want. In theory i think it can with the 1000 or 2500. Just not the way you want with the 500 I'm pretty sure.

Word, thanks. I figured it'd be silly to try and go around the limitation of one set of outs. I don't really need any of the features from JJOS or that the 1000 have to offer, just the ability to sequence samples pre-editing on the computer. Also, resampling FX won't work because I want to manipulate the sounds live with a KP3 or something. I'll probably just pick up an MPC500 and an SP303 or sumthin.
