MPC 500 and Midi recognition problems

I've used my MPC with a midi interface as a slave while my Yamaha Rm1x acted as the master, also I've downloaded all the necessary updates for the MPC and for some reason I can't get the MPC to recieve any messages. Any pointers?

Messages, you mean mid notes, cc#, MMC?

I find the MPC have a very dominant personality so i can understand him being a twat,Who wants to play second fiddle to a yamaha.
