Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

I just got my mpc 500 this past week and have been really digging it. created a bunch of sweet beats.

I have the original RAM which it came with but i got a 4gb compact flash for it.

the only thing I'm really still confused by is the save and load procedure. manual is no bloody use.

will someone please explain to me the best way to keep my CF card in order and save and loading? I guess I'm not correctly understanding the difference between saving to autoload, saving to internal, saving my projects and saving all sequence and songs, etc.

Here is what I would love to be able to do:

write a sequence with several tracks and various effects in a specific program, then save the entire project somehow where I can load it all easily at once. And then somehow keep my cf card organized so all the samples arent just floating around in its main folder.

could someone please guide me through this procedure?
the last beat I made i saved "entire mem" constantly to a project file but now when I try to load it I get an error with CPU read and some string of numbers showing up on the mpc and it just freezes, i have to turn the mpc off and back on and I fear my beat is lost.

help plz!! will much appreciate any advice..
cheers

Make sure you have the most up to date firmware. 1.32 I believe is the current.

ALWAYS save entire project. The loading error you are facing is due to one of 2 problems. Either your firmware isn't up to date or your CF card is corrupt. If you update the OS and still have problems try re-formatting your CF card.

the way i was interpreting it , save entire project will be the only action I need to take to save all my sequences, tie them to their program files and effects etc? is that right?

or do I also then have to also do "save all songs and sequence" ?

thanks for the advice

That is correct. You only need to save entire project and no other saves are required.
