What is my PROJECTS NAME?!?

I have just posted a reply in a different topic, and I feel this is an important question that should be answered, so it is now its own topic...

Here was my reply...

It is a good idea to name as many things as you can, samples, sequences, tracks, songs.

One issue I used to have was I would load a beat, make some changes, but when it's time to save it, I forgot the folder/beat name... I have fixed this by immediately creating a SONG and NAMING THE SONG the name of the folder. Then when I forget the name, I will refer to the song.

I feel that is AN IMPORTANT FEATURE that must have been overlooked, and is missing from the OS... to be able to see the name of the project you loaded!!!!!

Does anyone else have that issue, or is there a way to see the project name after it is loaded? Am I missing something? Prob. right under my nose right?

Everything I do is named. Beats are numbered and cataloged, samples are all labeled so I know their origins. Those who dont get into organization will find out how important it is when you get a phone call 3 years down the line and you need one specific unnamed project lol.

This is very true. But is there a way for you to see the name of the project you just loaded into the 500? Without writing it down first....

I THINK, but not 100% that if you just press LOAD> PROJECT and it should already show the one you just loaded....

This is true, it will show the last project I loaded, but only until I remove the CF card, Load some drums from a different card, then its back to not knowing what project is open? Wiggity WACK!

Oh man let me tell you... Something killed my short term memory, and the feature would really help about now!

They could have put "Project Name" in the "Other" screen... anywhere would work though.

A simple way to mitigate this problem would be to look at the project just before you load up new drums or samples.

I doubt AKAI is going to release a new OS for this little bad boy, but I could be wrong.

Got to love how we will always find a work-around should an issue arise. The beauty of human intellegence...

The work-around for me is to name the song file then save it, but i don't always do that in the heat of the moment, and I don't create songs for every beat. I guess it's only a problem dependant on an individuals usual routine of getting it done. (Mine)

Yo be careful when you save songs etc.... I've found this little bugger likes to hide/delete files if you don't save the entire project. I've lost programs before lol
