Anyone confussed as I am ?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ftv2h0-yl8

My guess is this woman is using a in out box like an M Box
and she is assuming we know this
Because when I goto Bus A in reason with the MPC connected to my laptop
via USB
that option USB uno does not come up
which manual should I read first ? MPC or Reason?
enjoy my comments on the vid

HAHAHA man I'm dyin 4 real son!!

you might as well title the video How to sync Reason and the MPC 500 to PaPa Smurf and my father using Gary Coleman's grandfather's Lynn drum

I get your point though.

Just get reading. This is basic MIDI stuff.

Got reading and no my friend
this is not basic MIDI as I pointed out
the thing about this video is fail on there part
for making it seem like you can connect your MPC 500 via USB cable
and control Reason5 this way
The manual for the 500's MIDI sync section never mentions USB once
its all done through MIDI Cables
Don't you think this video misleads you into thinking you can sync via USB only

You can not as far as I can tell

This is a USB uno MIDI interface
you need this wire to do what that rather large breasted woman shows
I would like to help her get those things poppin

So let me clear something up for anyone else who watches this video
and might be confused because they will come across something not in a manual
The USB uno midi interface is a wire needed to Use your MPC 500 as a controller of Reason 5
Damn that's all she had to say

Here is my question though
If I have an Oxygen 8 controller
can I just hook up the MPC 500 via MIDI cables to the Oxygen 8
and then the OX8 to my laptop via USB
and control Reason with both the Oxygen8 and the MPC 500 ?

Don't quote me but..

I think USB only allows one MIDI channel in and out... So you might not be able to chain them and select two different channels like traditional MIDI. They will share the same MIDI channel.

I think.

Then again I don't have an Oxygen 8 either, and never tried it.

Just add another UNO...

I dont have reason installed right now because my pc took a boo boo, but when I did, I had my keyboard controller and the MPC hooked through two different MIDI connections. One of them being the UNO device. I would use the keyboard controller to record in reasons sequencer while it plays along with the beat on the MPC. Then sample the tracks one by one back into the MP. Controlling it all with the transport on the MPC. It was amazing, I have to fix my terd computer.

Just wanted to follow up on this post to say, I got the USB to midi cable and have been controlling KONG or Klang or whatever it's called in reason and for the most part it's not as great as it seems. I mean don't get me wrong its cool I just have not had the time to really explore reason. One thing has not changed about reason you still have to work kinda hard to get reason to not sound like reason. At the end of the day I broke down and bought an mpk mini and have still yet to use it with reason.

Midi cable in Oxygen 8 mid out -> MPC's midi in.
M-audio midi/usb in MPC's midi out, USB in the computer off course.
The midi notes triggerd by the Oxygen will go through the mpc triggering Reason just like you would hit a pad.

Should be ok if your using your own sampled sounds I guess? I like it to use it as my soundmodule for additional stuff. Mask and blend. If you have a chopped sample that supposed to be the main melody then Reason is just fine for extra stuff.

Yeah thanks for the Ox8 tip but I no longer use it with Reason. I have the MPK mini and it has all I need. I have to spend more time with it to get the sounds I want. Just not been in the mood to do that when I have a MPC500 a 2000 and Beatmaker on my phone not to mention a newly purchased qy70 and a few beat making programs on my PSP.

Someday soon I will sit down with Reason and the MPK and hopefully dig it
