Syncing with logic?

Hey all, i just got an mpc and im loving it! However, im interested in hooking up my mpc to my mac to use in logic. What i want to be able to do, is bring up a drum kit in logic, and just use the mpc as a controller. But i also want to hear the drums i play as i hit them, some people were telling me that if you go midi you can transfer note data to logic but you wont hear it, which ruins its purpose. So yea what cord do i need to hook my mpc to logic to use as a controller? Thanks.

They were right, you need a midi cable (one).

You can hear the output from Logic by plugging headphones into your Mac.

You will need an audio interface to handle studio monitoring and the midi side of things.

What you want to do is not called 'syncing', it is simply sending or transmitting midi data from an MPC to a computer.

Midi synchronisation is actually about locking two or more sequencers together in terms of timing.

For midi controller type work, synchronisation is not needed at all.

Great thanks, so a basic midi to usb cord is all i need? I just ordered an audio interface, i got an m-audio firewire solo, i dont plug anything from mpc into that right?

The M-Audio Firewire Solo is an audio interface, but it lacks any midi ports.



However you could connect your MPC main outputs to it.

What type of interface have you ordered?
