Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hi everyone! I have something of a problem with loading samples onto MPC 500. The thing is that it doesn't seem to recognize all of the samples once they have been loaded. For example, I load a series of samples named 'bassline 01...02...03 etc' but 500 recognizes only the first one. Or at other times it mixes the samples (once I renamed them into 1,2,3,4 and so on.) showing number 10 after no.1 or something like that.

I would really appreciate some help.

If samples aren't loading, I've found it's usually 'cause they aren't 16-bit wav files. So check those. You can easily check in iTunes by loading them into iTunes and checking their info by right clicking on the file. I think itunes calls it "sample length" and not bit rate. You can also batch convert in iTunes to 16-bit if you find you have a bunch of 24-bit samples.

As far as why samples numbered 10 come after number 1, I've never understood how the MPC orders files in the files list. Maybe someone else can comment. I'd also be surprised if that info wasn't in the http://www.mpc-samples.com/product.php/104/beat-making-on-the-mpc500/ which is full of useful information like that.
