Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hi, my mpc2000 is broke (does not read RAM) and I thought that it could sell the parts and buy a 500 I wanted to ask: it will do the trick to use two programs at once in one sequence (like in xl) or even let go of the 2 sequences of different programs at once? In short, do 4 banks of bass and perc and 4 banks with fragments of melody ?

Hey Everybody,

I know, this is supposed to work, but in my case it does not. Before I can listen to an old sequence/track(s) I have saved earlier, I have to load one program. Then I have to go to track --> params -->program assign. Here, there is always a "?" before the offered program name. By scrolling the data-wheel I can then chose the program that I have loaded before, BUT ONLY THAT ONE, the menu does not show any of the other programs saved on the mpc. If I get the manual right, at this point, all programs on the mpc500 should be available, so I can assign them to each track individually. The manual says, that the "?" will appear befor the program name, if I have deleted or moved the sequence's required programs. But I did not to that.
Did anybody have this problem? Is it maybe the result of a "wrong" folder structure on the mpc? Do I have to save sequences to s specific folder?

Thanks for helping me out!

My guess would be you saved things in a weird way. It is sort of confusing. But what I do is always save the entire project, that way you are guaranteed to have all the samples, sequences and programs all in one folder. You might not be loading both programs and you might not be loading the samples with the program as well.
