Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

I just received my MPC-500. I have very simple needs for my band. I have about 10 samples that I need to trigger when we are playing live.

1. I created a new program and then recorded a new sample and associated to pad A1.
2. I saved the program and the sample.

When the MPC starts, I see that it loads my program and sample. (so I know it's saved).

I can't figure out how to play the sample associated with the program!!!
I go into program mode and turn the dial to select my program- but hitting pad 1 in bank A does nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok- i figured it out, when i load the program, i have to select to override and/or erase everything else that is loaded, so that my program's sample-to-pad assignments are used.

One question- do I say in program mode whille using the pads to trigger the samples? or is there a button i should press to put me back into a mode that is used during performances?

figured that out too...

after loading a program and overwriting everything else...

go into PROGRAM mode and select the program that was just loaded...

set the full pad level button [the cancel button] so that pad sensitivity isn't used...

and trigger away with the pads!

Welcome to the forum.

Try stuff out first before you start panicking and posting unnecessary threads.

Don't rush to be making beats right away, play with the thing and experiment t cover the basic's.

Also read the 500 forum several pages deep to uncover common solutions to common problems.

Oh, and don't forget it's all in the manual.
