"unknown file format!" help

i just bought a second hand mpc 500 and just started getting to grips with it, been trying to work it out for a few hours. i found out how to upload kits using the cf card plugged into my mac and tried assigning the drums to each pad. when this happens and i go 'mode> pad 2> load: sample' and find my file i press "do it" and i get the error "unknown file format!!" is this a big problem? can someone help me fix it or tell me what to do or something cus im gunna pissed the **** off if i just bought a broken mpc

Have you considered changing the file format?

What type of files are you using that are giving you this error?

lol. they are all wav files that were put on from a mac, are there only certain formats that the mpc takes? i have a memory card that i was given by the guy i bought it off that has a lot of samples on it that do the same thing as well

Ensure they're at the right bit rate etc... That thread should shed some light
