Mpc 500 or Midi controller

So.. I want to start creating songs. I have attempted using the trial of FL Studio and learned a lot. Most of the songs I will be creating will be hip-hop songs and not involve many instruments, virtual or real, besides a piano for synths or bass when needed. I don't think I even need a midi keyboard though because I can use the piano roll in FL studio.

So the choice I have to make is to either buy the mpc 500, or the mpd 26.

I'm almost all for the mpc 500, because I love the fact to be able to load my own samples and use it on the go, then when I get home plug back in and edit when needed in FL Studio. The only problem I am seeing is that I don't see many knobs or sliders on the mpc 500. Will I be able to add any effects to anything I create while making beats on the mpc 500? I will idealy only use FL Studio to create synths and basslines to make beats over, load new samples, but I don't want to have to add effects on my computer because that ruins the portability of the mpc 500, and in that case I would just use the mpd 26. But if it is possible to make effects on the beats with the mpc 500 on the go. I will definitely go for that. I cannot find much info on the mpc 500 so can anyone give me

There's never a right/wrong answer. It's all on preference. Just go to Guitar Center or find a friend with whatever you're interested in and play around with it to see what you're comfortable on. Don't get anything because someone else said to do it and don't be discouraged by the learning curve. The only guarantee is that EVERYBODY sucks for a long time before they get good (anyone who denies that still sucks lol).

id say get an MPD. I used to rock a mpd26 and FL for years, still got older beats i sell from that setup. was a perfect entry into pads in production too before i had made my mind up. IF you like using pads, upgrade, if you dont, sell the mpd/.

Its 100% MPC with the exception of 12 pads and a small screen, not even a 2000XL can touch it.

Yeah, saying that it's toy is just showing lack of knowledge on the machine. It's MPC through 'n through.

The fact its got 12 pads i mean shii. That alone puts me off.
