recording and then deleting off ram

I just figured out How torecord sample....its like i stumbled into a whole Different world!

Now my ram is fillin fast and was wondering
If there was a way to free my record ram space and still keep the sample in my hard disk.

I have the 128ram and the 80gig drive About to switch out for the 40

Im taking samples from the h.d i dj with and trying to us them in the 2500. Some work with np
And others wont ever show up in my folders!!!!!

Alright I think you hopped in the wrong forum, but it's all good. Which MPC are you originally trying to work with? Also, why would you want to switch out your hard drive for one of a lesser size?

To answer your first question, you will have to record the samples and THEN save them onto the hard drive to keep them, and delete them from the RAM. That's the only way I'm thinking of right now.

For your second question, to me it sounds like a sample rate issue or something of that sort. I'm not sure exactly what rates the 2500 use, but more or less it should be much more robust than the 500. So, practically, I think you may not have the correct sample rate, or if that isn't the case, then someone else should be able to help you.

EDIT: I just checked the 2500's sample rate and it is 44100 khz. You can check your sample rates from the hard drive. Even if the sample rate is greater than 44100 khz, it SHOULD still show up in the menu's though. Be sure that they're all WAV files as well, as that is all I believe the MPC's will support.

found out about the wave thing relized i wasted alot of hrs reimporting the same thing only to get the same thing haha

Haha yah dude no one said it was easy. It took me at least 2 years to get into the Akai movement to fully understand what it really is. I was looking at it the wrong way, honestly. It's not just a sampler but everything has been included, you just have to figure it out by hand and play with it for hours to get it. The sample rates might need to be changed upon, but the sound it puts out more than makes up for it
