Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

So i have made and saved each track as a sequence in one project. I want to record each individual track so i can play with it in another program. Anyway when i load the individual sequence there is not sound. WTF is going on here? I only save each individual track as a sequence in a separate folder because there is not enough recording time in my original project. Anyway i can in increase this time? Or do i have to just treat each sequence i have saved as it own project? and if so why is there not sound when i load it?

You gotta load the program :D You gotta load the samples :D Then, You gotta load the sequence :D Then you can record do what you like doing before you were doing it. Fabulous, now get the fock out.

 Just clownin', when I don't smoke I can get weird sometimes.

But yes, you must load everything. Strange how there is a "Save Entire Project" but no "Load Entire Project". On my MV, all I gotta do is hold Shift and hit the save button and it saves whatever I got. But the 500 is a demanding little **** but I put up with her because she got that fine battery compartment

Thanks again. I do find it to be a a major **** and i want to smash my head through it. but i am getting more familiar with it. Unfortunatly there isn't alot of places to learn how to use it. I also think that not alot of people use the 500 anymore. Anyway a buddy of mine said this site saves lives and by the sounds of your beats you know what your doing very well. expect alot of questions ou have probably already seen on the forum before. I treid using the search but so far havent found any help. Also there are hundreds of posts it would take hours to find the right answers. I bought the mpc cause i dont have anyone to make beats for me. its been a long learning process and its taking away from my writing time. I feel like its going to be two years before i release any thing.

It's not just the MPC 500 with the PITA workflow. But anyways, it's more important that you find out what suits you best. I work with the MPC 500 pretty well because I know what I'm doing essentially. The trimming and chopping is very time consuming, that's the first thing I noticed when messing with it, but it's not really a setback. The most important thing I can tell MPC 500 users is to mess with it, mess with it, mess with it. Don't expect to do anything professional for about 2 years (4 years if you're brand new to production.) It IS a time consuming process, especially if you're teaching yourself like I have.

I remember when I first powered it on, I was like "What good is this thing?" This was after coming from messing with the XR20 which I thought was great. The reason why I bought the MPC 500 was because I needed practically the 12 levels function as well as the features of the sequencer and the slider essentially. They're great improvements over the XR20, but I still think the XR20 has its own place. What's great about the MPC 500 is that you can stick rechargeable batteries in it and take it anywhere. Another great thing about it is when you get a stick of RAM and can record 22 minutes of mono audio.

But most importantly, Read The Effin Manual, it's there for a reason.

Hey, thanks Apolloape!! :D

We all was there, it just takes that one day when you get tired of getting beat by the machine and you take full charge. After that its all downhill.

Feel free to ask anytime.
