Help Please

I just received a MPC 500 about a week ago. I was having problems with the sequencer speeding up and slowing down. Also sounds not triggering at the proper time. I recopnized right away that it was the lack of internal memory
I upgraded the memory to the Akai 128 EXM.

But the problems still persist.

Let me do my best to paint a picture.

Autoload is set to OFF.

I have loaded TWO programs into the MPC. Phat loop1 and a Fretless Bass

Sequencer is set to THREE measures
I am using Track A1 and A2
Metronome is 77
Quantize is set OFF.

Phat loop 1 is on A1
Fretless Bass is on A2

I am using the STOCK sounds off the card that came with the unit.

Track 1 is the Phat Loop 1
Track 2 is Fretless Bass. Using Bank B so it is higher in register.

The Phat Loop is Triggered on beat 1 and measure 2 beat 1.
Remember the sequence is three measures just to give the loop time to resolve.
Dont think musically here, this is a test of me trying to do something very basic.

Bass is triggering on beat 1 and 2+(the eighth note after beat 2). same thing in the second measure. NOTHING IS PLAYING IN THE THIRD MEASURE.

Fretless Bass doesn't sustain properly on some of the notes.

Loop doesn't trigger properly sometimes.

I mean really...it's choking on so little a sequence!!?

Please know that I have talked with Akai Pro online as well as talked to their tech support. I have called Sam Ash where I bought it from.

Don't know what else to do other than wait for the next unit and hope.

I had such high hopes for this MPC because of the portability. And the prospect of making cool beats on the go.

For the record I am highly frustrated. I have another unit being sent to me but I fear I will have the same problem.
