Control Slider value with foot pedal/MIDI somehow?

Is it possible to control the Slider via foot pedal via MIDI or in some other way? I'd die to have this functionality, as I could then put an expression pedal next to my hihat and have my hands free for the sticks...

Too many parameters in the slider for a footswitch to handle don't you think. Unless its one of those velocity type gas pedals.

I've read that it's possible on the MPC1000/2500 when running the alternative JJ OS on them... a shame JJ doesn't exist for the MPC500
