Turning a Negative into a Positive

So,I had another setback over the holiday weekend.The floppy disk drive on my vintage Yamaha SU700 died on me.Now all my trusty drum library/kits won`t load up.I own a 500 but haven`t really used it to it`s full potential.I was using both in tandem with the plan to one day transfer all my data into the 500.I mean those drives are dirt cheap and can be installed myself but still.All other aspects of the 700 work fine so I can still get busy and dump the project into the 500.Problem solved.Yet I`m gonna force myself to learn the 500 better and turn a negative into a positive.

I was considering buying Yamaha SU700 when I was looking for my first hardware sampler a few years ago (I ended up with Electribe ES-1.)
I heard that there is an internal SCSI port 50-pin connector inside Yamaha SU700 (although I am not sure if this is really the case.)
I know SCSI devices are pain to deal with (expensive, and often bulky, SCSI ID has to be assigned for each devices, etc.) But if you like SU700, you might want to consider SCSI options. I like a SCSI MO drives, but it can be expensive in the US. Zip drives are terrible though, so fragile.

I never upgraded my SU700.I know what your were refering to(expansion module).I know I can find SU700s fully upgraded and maxed out on ebay.My dream is to buy a factory sealed one and keep it in the box.I loved this machine so much I bought it twice. after my crazy ex wife wrecked my studio after a domestic metldown LOL.So easy to use.They thought the machine out well.The LED screen works and it`s more than 10 years old.I can`t really be mad at all with my purchase.I`m sure once I master the 500 I will feel the same way.

I`ve read the quran cover to cover several times,I`ve read the bhavagita(hindu scriptures),and extensively studied 120 lessons(5%).I UNDERSTAND all that stuff.I read the 500 manual at least 4 times and STILL can`nt grasp certain things.LOL LOL LOL

Well, what I heard was that expansion module is not really needed for connecting a SCSI device, because SCSI port is already in the board. Of course you have to find a way to extend the internal SCSI port to outside the case, but I don't think it is difficult project. Either day, you have to deal with SCSI, instead of IDE device, which is cheaper.
SU700 is an interesting machine to me. Yamaha usually come up with something different than other makers. Not many people are using SU700. SU700 can sample in 16 bit and 8 bit, and there are a few Hz setting to choose from. There are a lot of on-board effects, and up to three effect can be used at once. It can resample as well but in mono only.
SU700 is more powerful than MPC-500 for certain things.
I like discovering underrated gears. I still like Korg Electribe ES-1, which was my first hardware sampler sequencer.

This was the best purchase I ever made.I love this little machine!!!Word.I`m starting to get the hang of it!!!! Once I master how to save with confidence it`s ON!!!
