Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hey,
This is driving me crazy...

big time

Everything was working fine with my original 128MB Akai CF card till 3 days ago.
Since then, unable to load/save/format and even to plug the mpc via usb to computer (mac osX), nothing pops up.

Just bought another Cf card today. SanDisk 4Gb. ANd a card reader.
Tried everything. Format in FAT32 from windows/from mac etc etc...
Nothing... same shXt

I know there's a lot of topics about that issue in here, been reading all those.
My question is, is there any solution ?

Do you have a bent pin inside youf cf slot on your 500? Get a light and look in there.

Hey lampdog,
cheers for your quick answer, just checked.
All is ok, no weird pin and when I insert those CF cards, its smooth..

thanks

In fact, I have the feeling that the computer manages to format in a correct way the CF cards, can plug those in and out and the computer would recognize them as valid volumes.
I have the impression that the MPC kind of Fxxks them as soon as they are inserted.

What happened with that original card? What else did you change while you had that card?
By MPC5oo Sun Jun 24, 2012 7:20 pm
Actually, as I remember, what happened was:
-Hooked up the Mpc with USB to my mac (OSX 10.6) - as I always did
-Copied some .mid files into a folder created from the Mac

and then,
Couldn't eject the disk. The mac system wouldnt do it,
So I unplugged the usb cable ( The copy was finished )

Then, next thing....Mess

This would be more of a last resort but,

Have you tried to Mode>Load and scroll over to Frmt and reformatted the card? The card will be formatted to FAT32, but I had success formatting through the MPC.

This will clear the card, so you'll lose whats on it; but it will reformat the card for use in the MPC.

Hi Penumbra,
Thanks for your help.
Been tying that as well, but there's always - Invalid format - Error popping out.
Been also trying to format the card in PC via card reader in Fat32 then right away trying to format it again in Mpc ( as seen on some videos on youtube ) but that didnt help..
same - Invalid format -

I wonder if the people who had this problem previously in the forums found some
workaround.

Thanks all for the help
