Low pass filter not really up to scratch

Am I the only one who doesn't get good results with the 500's lp filter?

I'm no expert so it could be something I'm doing, though I've read through the relevant chapters from the manual and Beatmaking on the MPC500.

I'm considering buying a piece of equipment (hardware filter or a different sampler) as a way of getting better filtered bass lines.

Whats wrong with it?

I think its pretty decent. It brings out the lows really well. Clean basslines and all. Are you messing with the resonance as well?
