Hey Everyone,
Back in April of 2012 I bought my MPC 500. It's hard to believe it's been that long. Where does the time go?
Anyway..
I came on this forum having many problems with my 500.
Long story short, it was a bad unit. (As was stated in the thread at the time)
In the beginning what helped me the most was READING THE..........aftermarket manual. Yup thats right. Being really new to the MPC the after market manual sold here on this site help with some of the major concepts. Not only that but the book came with tutorials that had samples to manipulate and listen to the authors examples.
You may be asking(or not
) why I started with the aftermarket manual and not the AKAI manual.
Speaking personally(milage may vary), I had just gotten my MPC and I had my head filled with the exciting creative potential that awaited me with the 500.
I'm all for reading manuals but at the time because I was excited to get going, the AKAI manual was really dry. Thats why I really appreciated the aftermarket manual because it was a much better read.
I do use the AKAI manual quite a bit now and am still learning a lot.
Much more so as a reference.
Now I'm coming back to this site with a whole new level of understanding. I now appreciate the questions that people are asking further "down the road"
In fact just before I decided to write this I came across a thread on moving sections of tracks from one sequence to another sequence.
I hadn't given SEQ EDIT much attention.
But once I went back and READ THE MANUAL it opened a whole new world of possibilities.
So long story short, I have to give props to the MPC 500 its "IN THERE".
AND thanks to MPC-tutor and all the people that make up the forums.
