Noob problem- samples are there but i can't hear them

Hey all. I've been searching the manual, forums etc but i can't find the answer even though i'm convinced it is staring me in the face.

I have loaded and assigned samples, recorded some in a sequence and they play back perfectly. However when i hit the pads i don't hear the sounds, neither in recording mode or after. Full level is on. I'm using the correct pad bank, volume is cranked, but nothing when hit a pad.

I have rebooted, reloaded the samples/program/sequence and it all plays back when i hit play. Wen i hit individual pads again nada.

What a i missing here? It must be something simple that i am over looking.

i just had my MPC500 for a few days so im a noob also

but check if you are on the right bank (A, B, C, D)

check in progran mode if the samples are "one shot"

Thanks for the tips Jayo. I checked all those parameters and they were set correctly but still nothing plays back, except as a recorded sequence event.

I was tempted to try a factory reset, in case there is a glitch or something, however the unit i have is a rental and I'm concerned that the demo info will be lost in doing so. They didn't provide the demo card, so I wouldn't be able to get those sounds back - not a tragic loss by any means, I'm more concerned the rental place will just use that as an excuse to charge me more!

In any case if there are any more ideas to solve my issue, would love to hear them!

Solved the problem by scrolling through every parameter in every mode!

Turns out in [MIDI/SYNC] mode the "Pad to sampler" was set to OFF. (guess previous user was running MIDI info through this thing only.) I set it to ON and problem solved!
