Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hi folks!
Just got my first MPC500 recently and I'm looking for a little advice.
I bought the device so that I could use it to trigger samples from my
album in a live environment. Its not really going to be used for building
songs or anything.

I've got samples loaded and the sound great, but I can only seem to load
a very small amount of sounds at a time before i get the "insufficient memory"
prompt. I'm looking to use it in a way where I can cycle through programs quickly,
i.e having groups of samples saved under a song name so that i can skip through
quickly during a set.

I realise this is probably a stupid question, I am a noob! haha

you need to install the 128 mb RAM expansion (Akai EXM128 or better yet a much cheaper 3rd party 256 mb card usually used in laptops)

Yeah man. You need the added RAM to make it work. Or simply find another way around it by adding less samples and using the sounds through another approach. I'm doing something similar and I'm always trying to stretch it out as much as I can.

Always prepare yourself when asking noob questions. The peeps on this forum can be a little unkind to new people.
