i am completely new to electronic music production/MIDI/samplers/sequencers.
i am looking for something to complement my guitar looping compositions (i use foot pedal loopers).
what i need to know for certain about the mpc500 is:
1) can you sequence a whole song easily and assign it to a pad, so you just press one button and you can play along live with the beats you prepared earlier?
2) can you sequence a passage (verse or chorus) and have it on a 'play once' function, so that it doesn't loop endlessly and stops after one play without having to press anything to stop it?
these are probably really simple questions i could answer myself with some more research, and i assume the answer to both is 'yes', but i need to be certain. thanks for helping me out.
(for bonus points: do you think i would run into any other problems when trying to combine sequenced beats and live guitar looping, besides the risk of getting out of sync? would using a looper with a 'midi clock' solve this?)
