New MPC 500 need help. Left headphone

ok just got it brand new. i also have a pair of beats solo headphones. the problem is i put the hedphones in using an adapter and now only the left ear plays sound. Does anyone else have this problem?

Check your samples aren't set to mono and that you haven't maxed out your RAM. Also try rotating the jack to make sure the headphone input isn't faulty.


Other than that I'm not sure

...very unlikely event the adapter is mono (would only have one ring around the circumference of the jack)...and yeah like mastasteez I got nothing else.

well thanks anyway. the samples are stereo. i tried a couple of other headphones and none of them work. Can anyone suggest some headphones for under 200. im going to return the beats an get something different. IMO beats really arent what theyre built up to be. Studio quality ones would be nice.

as far as sound only coming from one earphone, definitely check the adapter to make sure it's stereo. i've never had an issue like that. the only problem i have with the headphone out is how quiet it is compared to the stereo outs.

for studio headphones, i like the audio-technica stuff. they've got a nice flat response (to my ears, at least.) i have an older pair of ath-40s, but something like this would be a good buy for under $200, imo- http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/audio-technica-ath-m50-studio-monitor-headphones.

You said none of them work, so its not the headphones wich are the problem, its either the adapter or the MPC500 output jack

I wouldnt suggest to buy new ones, either buy a new adapter or return the 500 to the seller if the jack output is faulty and ask for a refund.

Thanks i never even knew the adapters could be stereo or mono. That coukd most likely be the problem.

I have been looking at the m50s. Either way i dont like the beats. All glitter no game. Lol

You might be smarter than this, but when I first used an adapter I was too dumb to realize I didn't plug it in all the way. I went to the store i bought the adapter at and he just pushed it a little harder than I did and I noticed the headphones went in further than I thought, haha. If it's not plugged in all the way it will be only one ear, so that might be it?
