Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

I'm trying to get the mpc500 to trigger my vermona drm1mkIII. I've been through the manual but can't really find a clear answer. I have triggered the vermona with my midi keyboard. I have the vermona kick drum set to be triggered by midi note C4. I have assigned pad 1 to C4 and I've searched through the track params and mode midi/sync, but still no sound.
Could someone help me here?
Thanks

According to the Vermona manual, you can set each drum sound to a different channel and note (see below). So you could either try all 16 possible channels on the MPC to determine what the Vermona is set to--or you could purposely set the kick drum to C4/MIDI channel 1 using the procedure below.

Adjusting a single channel
• Hold down the TRIG button of the channel you like to assign a note number and midi channel, while
switching on the DRM1 MKIII. Release the TRIG button, after the specific channel has been triggered.
(TRIG LED flashes)
• The DRM1 MKIII is in learn mode now.
• Send the note number and the midi channel to the DRM1 MKIII
• The note number and midi channel is stored now.

I have no idea, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Vermona might not default to receiving on MIDI channel 10 old school style.

Nice to see it has versatility as far MIDI mapping/channels though.

Thanks for all the help. I've got it working via midi channel 1. It was a case of resetting the vermona. My only problem now is that the signal is very low - but I'm guessing this is because I'm currently running off batteries?
