To all who might think or hope that the MPC 500 will ever get another update... A long time ago, I reported one of the documented features of the 500 that didn't work. Track selection using the pads. They said they would report it to the development team. Of course, I never heard anything past that.

So I just got this email today from getsatisfaction.com:::::

This topic has been removed from Akai Professional: How to select a track with the pads on the MPC 500?.

Topics can be removed by community moderators if they contain inappropriate content or private information. This was the reason given in this case:

Akai Professional: "old"

If you disagree with this change, you can dispute it here.

I'm not suprised at all. I just thought I would pass on the knowledge...

Google cache link should anyone wish to check it out.

Here's a full list of all the changes made to that forum, quite a few have recently been deleted:

http://community.akaipro.com/akai_professional/changes

Apparently you can dispute any of them.

I've had a look at a few of those topics in Google's cache, and they are all 1 year old, most of them are nothing to write home about - I don't think it's a conspiracy or anything like that. Not sure why they are doing it though - looking at the history, this is the first time they've removed content for being 'old'.

Personally I don't agree with deleting old content, definitely not tech support stuff - that forum has an archive feature, so they should use that instead if they want to de-clutter things. Each to their own though :smoker:

The 500 will never see another update. I began on 1.13 and upgraded to 1.31 thinking more updates will come, but no, it stopped at 1.31. A shame because this device has so much potential and its only a couple fixes away to be a classic.

Shame on you Akai. I will never buy another Akai product, its too shitful.

+1 on never buying another akai product... **** alai, and its funny seeing all these big names jump on akais dick just to get a free ren/studio i gained such less respect for peeps i use to hold high on the list for being akai sellouts. im gonna use livid DIY parts that are made right in texas/USA and build my own controller the way i want it and also program it the way i want it and if i want to change it in the future saying my workflow changes, then i have the power to do so... **** akai and some cheap Taiwan made shit... FTW!!!
