MPC 500 WONT WORK WITH BATTERIES!!!

I chose the mpc 500 as an entry level drum machine just to get the gist of things as opposed to DAW
once I got the mp, I realized it didn't work with batteries, but did with the adapter so out of excitement i overlooked the problem
Then i blew either the fuse or the adapter out now im sicc
has this happened to anyone else?? i have the sp 303 but i much rather use the mp rather than the limitations of the sampletrak and boss products i have
the shops in NYC are talking extortion as far as repairs, am i totally screwed?

It should be easy to test whether the power adapter is broken by using a multimeter. If it is (no voltage between the inside and outside sleeve), then just get a new one which is typically <$20.

Just send it back where ever it came from. If you're stuck with it then get new parts at mpcstuff.com like new battery compartment and pcp boards.
