Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

I'm looking into installing a negative LCD for the MPC500. Does anybody have any input on the type of LCD it should have? All I know is it is a 16char/2row LCD. I got another MPC500 on ebay, but the LCD looks faded and not as defined as my other MPC500s. It was definitely replaced at one point with a cheaper lcd. While resarching the matter, I found this picture:

Now, would this work?: http://www.ebay.com/itm/16x2-Character- ... 231df48a19

Well I did it to one of my 500's:

Other than the fact that I desoldered the pins from the old lcd to use for the new one, it is a pretty easy install.

Hello to all of you. I just registered to the forum. My main language is spanish so i'm gonna try my best with english here.

I have this problem: a friend of mine just gave me an mpc500 but i only can see half of the lcd screen, the first 8 characters in the first line and the first 8 characters in the second line. Sometimes it kinda wants to display the missing characters but it only shows little dots i can't understand.

Do i have to replace my lcd screen?
Could it be a software problem?

In case i have to replace the lcd, i was checking and mpcstuff doesnt have the lcd screen for mpc500 anymore, they sent me an email and made me a refund when i ordered it. What can i do? Can the 2 line 16 bits lcd screen posted in this thread do the job?

Thanks.
