something is screwy with ur pad sensor sheet, i kinda feel like the ribbon cable on the bottom right slid out a lil.. one time i put my mpc500 back together after replacing the screen and didn't slide the ribbon cable all the way in before sliding the lil clip closed and when i put in back together it did shit like you are saying.. take the front off, just the six screws on the back parameters, not the middle 2 and the six screws on the front and back faceplate. when u see the ribbon cable there is a piece u can pull back, or up, that is a clip, pill that then slide the ribbon cable out and try sliding it back in all the way and press that clip back till u hear it click. now power ur mpc up while apart and load up something and see if those pads work…good luck, pm me if needed
