the 500 is dope....

PEACE, I go by LORD BEATJITZU,I am a heavy SP-404,303,202 user and I just recently got the MPC 500. I used to own the 1000 but sold it because I didnt really like the workflow and sound,I have always liked the mpc sequencer and mute groups
but the 1000 wasnt for me. I thought I would give the 500 a shot since it hase no wave forms[chop] and 12 pads like the sp-404.At first all the so called menu diving had me a little frustrated but now I love this little beast...I dont understand why cats complain so much about it...Its the perfect low budget LO-FI style drum box,plus hooked up with the 404 its the illest...chopping by numbers,filters,resampling,efx etc....

Also for the cats that have used the mpc 3000 and have the 500 is it true that they are very similar?If so what are the similarities...

yo, i too feel the same about the 500.. i love it, it was my first npc, and i got a 1000jjos2xl later and it just doesn't feel right like the 500 does…500 kicks ass, i call it the 3000mini

yea, haven't checked the whole thing out, but so far some dope ass shit homie….keep rocking that 500 and make sure to pick up a spare when these complaining ass people start selling em for the low on ebay and craigslist….if ur jog wheel starts spinning characters too slow pick up some deoxit from radio shack and spray it in the encoder after you pull the cover off, use it for buttons u have to press twice or extra hard, trust me, it works and no soldering required, also if you get the fat pads, i pulled the pad sensor plate out and drilled the holes out one size bigger so the lil pad nipples fit a lil less tight in there it improves the sensitivity..also on mine i desoldered all the leds and soldered in blue leds from china….yes, the 500 is hella slept on

Yeah, I think the frustration comes from the fact that there isn't a sampler like the 500. Its got its own lane. I played with many boxes but this one wasn't pick up and play. After a while, I finally got the hang of it and now its an incredible device. For its size, its just as powerful as its older brothers.

Can't wait to hear your beats on this. I too began an MPC500 album, just waiting for a couple members to send their verses and I can get the ball rolling. But its 85% done so far.

yo ill, I'm trying to put together a raw mpc500 beat tape on a 32min cassette tape.. shits gonna be raw loops and beats made witih the mpc500 run through my reel to reel and recorded straight onto a cassette tape… been working on some beats, no vocals, just beats and loops and noise…. I'm thinking and working on a teeshirt combo too, i gotta give credit to the cat who did it with the sp beat tape tshirt shit was genius, on ebay… imma use a cheap tee and make it as cheap as possible so cats might cop it and get a free cassette too…. i will also have the tape up for free download, but yea, i have never put anything out, so this will be strictly raw mpc500 shit..no perfection here.. lol
