Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

I've been using the MPC500 for sampling for about 7 years and I love the little guy, but I just started finally trying to get into the MIDI features in it. I know its not the best MPC to use for MIDI.

My question is, is it possible to assign MIDI CC or MIDI PC notes to a pad? I have some external hardware that I'd like to be able to change parameters on live, and using the pads would be so great. I don't want to have to press play at all/use the MPC as a sequencer, I'd purely like to use it as a controller via the pads, if you catch my drift. I've been going through the tiny sections of the manual on CC and PC and its confusing, it seems like I can only set these notes within steps in a sequence.

So if I can't on the MPC500, can any of the other MPCs do it?

This would be a huge help for my live sets!

500 can't directly but if you have another midi device sending those msgs then the 500 is more than happy to pass them through.

Mpc 1000 and 2500 can with JJOS.
