Insufficient memory !!

hi, i recently purchased an mpc500, i have a 128mb cf card.. I have put different folders for different parts of a drum kit, for example one folder for kicks, one for snares, one for hats etc. Today i loaded about 14 chops from a sample, the chops being no longer than 3 seconds. As i tried to load them, i got the message "insufficient memory!!". why could this be happening if i have got the latest upgrade and 128mb? Please help!

CF card is storage, i.e. like a hard drive on your computer. You also need memory, this is what holds the sounds you are actively working on. The 500 comes with only 16MB of memory, so you'll need to upgrade that to the full 128MB using the recommended memory (sticky in the MPC1000 forum).

A 128MB CF card is not the same as a 128MB RAM expansion.

A CF card is used to save data onto, like a hard disk drive or floppy drive in other devices, the RAM is the memory that you load that data into when the MPC is using it.

You need to install an internal 128MB RAM board (128MB if Akai brand, 256MB that is read as only 128MB in the MPC if non-Akai).

You probably only have the stock 16MB of internal on-board RAM to load samples into from your 128MB CF card.

You can easily open the cover over the RAM expansion slot, underneath the MPC500, without any tools, to check if the RAM expansion slot is empty or not.
