Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

So when I got my MPC the only adaptor I had was a 850mA one. I didn't use it much cuz the regulamentary voltage (yes, it was 12V)

I didn't use it for a while or much while I got a 500 or so mA.

One day when I was playing around with it, it got stuck on the startup page (like the other mpc user in this same board)

I stopped using it. Then all I could find was a 800mA, and since it hasn't stuck in the startup page.

But it gives me distortion while on monitor mode if it exceeds like the 5 mark or so. I've seen guys sample past the 12 mark in youtube and the sound it's cristal clear.

Anyone has had this kind of issue and knows how to give it a quick fix? is it worth a professional fix or a new one?

What I'm doing is sampling at low levels so it doesn't distort much, then normalising, which gives a distinct sound, grimy and so forth, but I don't want at all times grimy samples. (I've been sampling from old and new Lp's, guitars thru amp modellers and mp3 players...) I had other ridiculous issues with the sampling part but I'm not gonna go into that now...

(When I first got it was sampling fine...)

Dead MPC or fixable MPC?

does it distort on the headphones? or just on your monitors?

if the headphones are ok then its probably a problem with your monitors.

if the problem is in both then its likely your mpc.

have a look at the service manual http://www.eserviceinfo.com/download.php?fileid=45319

you can see the amplifier transistors in the output stage.

if you don't understand the schematics, take them to a service technician who does....

Thanks. Yes it does distort horribly thru the headphones when in monitor mode.

It didn't ocurred to me that the schematics were that detailed and specific in the service manual.

There ain't no service technician around for the moment so I'm stuck making grimy samples till I find a competent one.
