Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hi Guys, Just got the MPC Studio and fell in love with the workflow.

Works great with my external synth, etc, so now I'm thinking of

getting a standalone unit instead.

Can I route each of the 500's tracks to different audio outputs?

Say track 1 to stereo left, track 2 stereo right, track 3 headphone left,
track 4, 5, 6, 7 headphone right, etc.

If yes, are there any limitations?

Does the MPC remember (or recall) the settings,

or do they have to be re-setup with each new project / prog like with the Studio software?

It would be nice to assign the track outputs just once.

Thanks!

if you want you can pan some things to the left and some to the right, but that only gets you 2 mono outs.

if you don't have enough outs you can use a rack sampler. this is actually cheaper than just upgrading to a better mpc. akai S3000xl, S1000 and S900 samplers are very cheap.

i got myself an akai S1000 and now i have not enough inputs on my mixer.

now i use the S1000 for pretty much everything, unless its to long to fit in its limited memory, then it goes in the mpc500

really though, unless you have a big mixer and a rack of outboard, individual outs are pretty worthless. if you are recording into a daw then just track out one stereo track at a time.
