Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hello everyone!

I am new to MPC but I have bought a MPC 500, upgraded ram for it to 128mb and bought a new memory card 4gb. I also have updated the OS to 1.31 but for some reason my MPC starts to lag like hell when Im trying to record anything on live.

When Im trying to record on over dub when the sequence is about to repeat itself the MPC starts lagging and stutters the sounds, the rec and play lights are both on but I cant stop it from recording whilst its lagging and metronome lags as well. after about 30 or more seconds it allows me to stop but nothing is recorded properly.

I thought it might have been a ram poroblem but I have also tried to take out the ram and try it on standard 16mb but the problem occurs as well.

Has anyone had that problem as well or got any idea what might the problem be?

thats not something the mpc500 does normaly.

i'd guess you have something that's producing a lot of midi data connected to the midi in port. did you try without anything attatched? or are you using the mpc standalone?

is the mpc actualy recording something? look at the recorded sequence with step edit.

yes im using mpc standalone with output to my speakers (KRK Rokit 6) i dont think there is a problem with the setup because im using samples that are exported to mpc's standards I think this is a fault in the MPC itself

thank you for the reply

hmmm, try samples exported from another program, or recorded via the mpc itself. its a long shot but its totaly possible that your files are bad, (even if you diligently exported them as 16bit wavs, your program might be writting weird wav files.)

otherwise i'm out of suggestions.
