Drum Tracks Out of Sync

I haven't had my MPC very long and I've been just trying to learn the machine, making VERY simple drum tracks.

But one odd thing I've noticed is that when I play back one of these sequences after recording, it plays back all choppy, completely unlike how I know I recorded it. I tried changing the tempo, etc and still. Does anyone know what's going on?

sometimes you want timing correct(aka quantize), sometimes you don't.
if you set it to "off" your sequences will play back exactly as you recorded them
