Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hello guys, I'm new to this. I already got down chopping and sampling a beat. Now to record it on there..
I have no idea how to record it, I press the play or record and some demo song comes on.. I'm missing a step..
Once I already named the beat and chopped it up into 16 slices, what's the next step? If anyone could help.
Thanks!

Looks like you need the manual. http://www.akaipro.com/mpc500

Read up on building sequences. You will need to create a new Sequence and set up your bars to how many you want (1 to 999 bars) first and adjust the samples in your programs. After all that and you satisfied how your track is gonna go then you can record. Again read the manual on all of this in the Sequence Chapter.

Recording is just a matter of setting those things mentioned and hitting the RECORD button. Or you can hit PLAY as well and then press RECORD. The 500 is very flexible and you can set-up how you want it. All in the manual
